Why I chose to teach?
After finishing high school I took up a part time job at a Montessori, as a reading teacher. At first I used to find all the overly cheered greetings and big smiles really awkward. But they were little kids; they enjoyed the fake smiles and fake greetings so I went a long with it. The kids were adorable, I used to love coming to work every day and reading with the kids, I genuinely enjoyed it. Well my work was very easy compared to other teachers.
So a month in to my new job, things were looking great but then my boss thought I’d do better as a class teacher and in a day’s time held me responsible for a group of kids. It was obviously hard at first and it did come with its challenges and I am grateful it did, because I wouldn’t be where I am without what I achieved back then. I was able to discover my love for teaching and bestowing knowledge to others, it felt like a blessing.
Why is education important to me?
A pen is mightier than a sword and a teacher truly knows the value of those words. Education gives us knowledge of the world around us and changes it into something better. It develops in us a perspective of looking at life. It helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life. People debate over the subject of whether education is the only thing that gives knowledge. Some say education is the process of gaining information about the surrounding world while knowledge is something very different. They are right. But then again, information cannot be converted into knowledge without education. Education makes us capable of interpreting things, among other things. It is not just about lessons in textbooks. It is about the lessons of life. One thing I wish I can do is, to provide education for all: no children left behind and change the world for good!!
